[ the lack of honorifics is curious, as megumi notices it, but it's not so terrible that he feels offended; they're the same age after all, and maybe among the non-sorcerer youths it's more common now to go without than to stick to tradition.
he scans over the name plates by the doors, and lets his gaze drift aside in thought. ]
I know some from the other dorms because we're from the same world. My guardian is here, as is one of my classmates and best friend. Itadori Yuji, if you've met him — if you haven't, I'm sure you will soon enough if we hang out more.
As for other people though, no. I'm new here and still figuring out what's going on.
[Hikaru means nothing by it, it is just their age for him and even his best friend is only ever by first name. If he ever knew that Megumi didn't like it, it'd change in a heartbeat.
He shifts the bag a little in his arms, walking close to Megumi as he gets his answer to his question. Even if it makes him tick his eyes from the doors to the teen beside him. He doesn't want to believe that Megumi is a danger to him. He doesn't feel like he is and seeing what he does when those grey eyes move over the person beside him... it doesn't feel like he's terrible.]
Mister Firefighter.
[He has met him. The man was nice, and meant well, but only solidified that Hikaru is very outnumbered here. When he's asked about home, he shakes his head, a frown on his face for a moment.]
No. Kinda glad if I'm honest, might be better they're not here. If someone's gotta be here, may's well be me.
[Not because he thinks Yoshiki couldn't. Just because he's glad he doesn't have to.]
'sides, if any of 'em were here, I wouldn't have met people like you.
Ah, are they protective? Wouldn't that be a good thing?
[ megumi can't entirely relate with the idea of being protected; while yuji and gojo-sensei would undoubtedly do their best to save him, they also wouldn't stop megumi from getting into fights. then again, most people wouldn't allow teenagers to participate in deadly missions where they carry the brunt of the dangers, so maybe indo-san's world is just... normal. ]
I'm sure someone will miss you if you go missing for some time.
[It's his problem, he doesn't want anyone to get hurt on his behalf. Technically at least. Nodding his head, Hikaru agrees that maybe there will be some people. One person, he hopes at least. His mother for another reason, or Hikaru's mother. He puts it out of his head when the next question comes at him. Again he shifts the bag, both hands linked under it to hold it carefully.]
Ended up goin' to some orphanage hopin' someone had put him there. Itadori was there helpin' the kids n'stuff. I asked him about Yoshiki, the guy I hope stays home. If he ends up here, then I gotta protect him somehow.
[There's a beat before he says a soft:]
He's a nice guy. Itadori, I mean. Met a guy over text who mentioned some've the same things Itadori mentioned, names he mentioned, too.
That's why you were wondering. [ megumi nods to himself, more to affirm what he'd been thinking. ] If Yuji mentioned them, then they're good people. I trust his sense about who to trust and who not to.
[ and if yuji's been willing enough to recommend people from perhaps his own circle to someone, then yuji must've seen something good in indo-san too. he'll ask yuji if they can invite indo-san to an outing sometime; it'll be good to make friends this way. ]
Yoshiki's your best friend, I'm guessing? If you feel strongly about protecting him, that is. Yuji's that for me. I'd do pretty much anything for him if he asked.
[ they round the corner and enter the greater hallways. the halls are buzzing alive with people going about their day, but not so full that they have so squeeze their way past. ]
Who was the other person...? Maybe I've met them by now, too.
[Lucky for Hikaru he is alone, but not lonely. He's very quickly met people he likes, but the very real danger remains. He's not sure how people who fight things exactly like him are going to react. If Megumi is one of these things, Hikaru is not feeling like he's being lead to slaughter as much as dinner.
Technically Yuji recommended them but not entirely by anything other than chance. Hikaru doesn't say that.]
He is.
[He confirms Yoshiki's friend status, despite that he's starting to understand what the human emotions are that he has to settle through. It's nice to know that on the other side of things, he has a kindred that would understand the need to protect something, someone else. Hikaru expertly sidesteps someone coming too close and thinks nothing of it as he continues on.]
Dunno, don't remember his name n' when I went t'look him up again, guy's gone. All he told me was that he was a magician, a sorcerer. Uhh...
[He's clearly trying to remember most of the conversation.]
He said he had a friend that was cursed, but wasn't a curse n' that even if he could exorcise it, he wouldn't, or couldn't. Or both.
[Sincerely he's trying to remember.]
Hm... Told me these things, curses 'r made've human negativity n' energy? n' that he uses lot've curse words I guess? That's 'bout all I remember. He didn't name names. Or she, could'a been a girl fer all I know.

Did you find someone from your home too?
