POWERS AND ABILITIES
Insides
Hikaru is being brought in fully restored. Although his body is technically dead, it retains warmth, a pulse, and functioning organs when it suits him. He can breathe, eat, and bleed as normal. Despite this, there is no immortality. Instantaneous total body destruction events will kill him, even if that contradicts canon, so that he adheres to game rules. Though past me (this is future me) mentions further down that he would have to find a new body, he will not want to so I'd rather it kill him. If he stays out of his body, it will be in incorporeal form. I'm trying to cover all my bases in the explanation, not lay bases out for the future lol.
Hikaru's body contains strange "insides" which are, in truth, his real form. These insides can leak out through skin or abrasions either voluntarily, in response to emotional surges, or when driven by the urge to consume a soul. They are capable of infiltrating a human body or devouring spirits and impurities. Physicians cannot detect them. Their texture has been described as cold and similar to raw, marinated chicken.
Rie Kurebayashi, a psychic woman, warns Yoshiki:"You mustn't touch him. If you do, it will get inside you."
This confirms that physical contact with Hikaru's true form carries a risk of spiritual infiltration. This is further supported by the death of Old Lady Matsuura, whom Hikaru entered, controlled, and killed by compelling her and/or her body.
These insides cannot be meaningfully nerfed, as they are Hikaru himself rather than an external ability. While outside a host body they are capable of larger-scale or longer-reaching actions. When contained within a human body, they are heavily limited by that body's durability and structure. Outside of the body they can cut entire limbs off or attack, murder, hold, move, throw, overwhelm and other such things.
Spirit Perception
Hikaru can see and hear spirits. He is aware when someone physically interacts with his spirit form and can feel contact despite being non-corporeal. This ability functions similarly to a medium's perception but exists because he is himself a monster rather than a trained psychic. This ability is generally not nerfed, though it can be refrained from entirely if another player is uncomfortable.
Power of Suggestion / Compelling
Hikaru's voice carries supernatural weight. He can compel spirits to act, such as summoning them toward himself rather than others. Vocally, and through direct contact, he can also interfere with susceptible humans, pushing them toward mental breakdowns that may result in self-harm or death. Survivors may retain lasting spiritual damage that Hikaru can willingly try to fix with varying success.
In game, this ability is strictly permission-based. If it's used in a top level, I will make sure it is obvious in an OOC note or something like it that someone is aware of it and wrap back around to power lists. Players are welcome to tell me that they do not want that aspect even in a top level that I write for my own character and that's fine by me. NPCs may be affected within reason. Setting-breaking NPCs may be affected in rare, discussion-heavy circumstances if a plot requires it and with mod team involvement. This is not intended to be a frequent or casual situation when it comes to setting-breaking situations. Moderators are also welcome to contact me if it suits a plot to help with anything they need from Hikaru in that respect.
Spirit / Soul Consumption
Hikaru's insides can crush and consume spirits, ghosts, curses, or the souls of the living. Targets are capable of resisting. Resistance causes harm to both Hikaru and the target, with visible physical damage scaling to the duration of the attempt if they are stronger than Hikaru.
As with Compelling, this ability would require communication like I mentioned above. NPCs that do not impact the setting may have it happen to them so he can feed, or to stem any compulsions of his own. Important NPCs are excluded unless explicitly requested re: feel free to contact me about it if it suits the needs of the game at any time.
Regeneration
Hikaru can regenerate injuries, but for the purposes of the game only situations where his body wouldn't be destroyed. He experiences little physical pain and therefore allows minor injuries to persist for the sake of realism. Fatal scenarios such as total bodily destruction events cannot be regenerated from and will kill him for the sake of the game even if not the truth in canon.
His regeneration functions will be treated akin to out-healing damage rather than undoing death (again even if that's grey area canon wise). If his body remains viable, he can recover. If it crosses the threshold into true death, there is no recovery and he must find a new one or remain in his impurity form.
He can also use this ability on other people.
Super Strength
Hikaru possesses strength beyond human limits, but it is constrained by the human body he inhabits. Canonically, he has accidentally broken his own wrist simply by exerting too much force. Excessive use of strength will result in broken bones and bodily damage.
To apply extreme force without destroying his host body, Hikaru would need to allow his insides to emerge. While he may choose to break his own body in desperate situations, doing so is not sustainable or routine. His human form functions as a limiting shell rather than a power amplifier.
"Misc."
I'm sure we haven't been shown everything. Hikaru can grant "wishes" but I don't want to do too much with that here. It's more requests that he can grant and it's tied to, in these times, Yoshiki's wants. Though I acknowledge all this as a possibility, I'd like to let that take a back seat until we see more pertaining to it. As of the date of writing this application (January 5, 2026), the above list is what I will be going with even if things could be retroactive. If I have to I will canon update to right anything and resubmit any changes that need to be made during that instead if that's alright.
What Did Your Character Wish For? The entity wants to be able to touch Yoshiki without tainting him.
What Potion Did They Receive? Red.
Did They Drink It? Yes.

CHARACTER QUESTIONS
1. Who is the person your character is most bonded with from their canon, or who is someone they miss the most and why? (100)
Yoshiki. The bond exists both before and after Hikaru is replaced in respective manners, but it shifts in shape once Hikaru is no longer human. Yoshiki does not pull away after learning the truth and he does not try to control, explain, or redefine what Hikaru is. He tries to lead him down the right paths. The bond is built on continued presence rather than ideal outcomes and Yoshiki becomes the point the entity's new existence revolves around. It's not because Hikaru needs him to survive, though he does want him to, but because the world is bleak without him.
2. What are they most afraid of and why? (84)
Hurting Yoshiki by being close to him, not just physically, and losing him in any way. Not intentionally, sometimes not violently though there are times where violence is unavoidable, or used indiscriminately. Changing his life without consent, or the course of it, or him existing at all. Hikaru can tolerate being feared, avoided, or rejected. What he cannot tolerate is becoming the quiet reason Yoshiki's future becomes as bleak as Hikaru's would without him. That kind of harm cannot be undone once it happens.
3. What are their emotional, mental, and physical weaknesses and why? (90)
Emotionally, Hikaru does not adapt instantly, quickly but not on an instant. When a priority is established, he does fixate and if there's something in the way of him getting where he wants, or what he wants, or whatever threatens him or someone else, he acts out of heavy emotion. Emotions that can lead to him losing control if they're strong enough. Physically, his weakness is restraint. He is always regulating himself to prevent harm to the body that he's inhabiting, a corpse he knows means so much to Yoshiki.
4. What discrepancies are there between their inner self and their outer self? (96)
Outwardly, Hikaru appears calm, familiar, and easy to be around. Internally, nothing is truly, truly automatic. Some reactions are calculated, deliberate, to cover up when he makes a mistake. What others read as warmth or gentleness is often, but not entirely, translation rather than instinct. He understands how people expect others to behave and mirrors that understanding carefully. These days it isn't entirely deception, but it is effort. The discrepancy exists because his inner state does not naturally match human presentation, understand emotions the same way, or see human experience in the same concept we do.
5. What would make them happiest and why? (99)
Being able to exist beside Yoshiki without causing harm for as long as "long" will let him and then some. No obligation, no debt, no hidden cost attached to proximity. Not only as a protector or influence, but simply as a presence that does not damage what it is near. For Hikaru, happiness is not just excitement or joy, or Yoshiki (though heavily it is Yoshiki). It's many things: New experiences, reimagined old experiences that he can experience through the host body's old experiences. Going out, seeing new places, quiet involvement. Right down to just how music affects him.
6. What characteristics does someone need to have to be your character's ideal significant other or platonic partner? (86)
Stability above all else. Someone who does not need answers, explanations, or proof. Someone who does not try to control uncertainty or turn curiosity into interrogation. Silence needs to be acceptable. Misunderstandings need to not be read as a threat, and understanding when Hikaru views himself as having messed up to support him through it.
Distance cannot immediately mean rejection, fear cannot become avoidance from his partner. Yoshiki already meets these conditions by acknowledging what Hikaru is without demanding justification or ownership. So technically: TL;DR Yoshiki.
7. Would your character make a sacrifice to save someone else and why or why not? (77)
It used to be only for Yoshiki, but honestly I can see that he would do this for someone else, too now. It would have to be someone who gained significant CR, or meant something to him, or maybe someone who he knows Yoshiki would be sad for losing. For Yoshiki though? Yes. Completely and without hesitation or self-preservation that maybe some others would have. Hikaru would cease to exist if that ensured Yoshiki's safety and autonomy.
8. What is one thing they would tell their younger self, or want their older self to remember? (88)
That caring about someone does not give you the right to limit them, or tell them what they need to be for you. Staying close does not mean owning space in their life, isolating them by your specific presence alone, limiting decisions they make or things they want for themselves, or for each other. Protection without respect is still harm, even if it comes from good intentions and that life has a value individual to each person and precious to the souls around it because of its fragility.
9. When in dire circumstances does your character fight, flee, freeze, or fawn and how does that look? (94)
F I G H T. Hikaru will gladly throw down hands and has in the past without any hesitation. He is a vicious, bloodthirsty being only tethered by the humanity of the person that he is inhabiting, and the people around him. Mainly, again, Yoshiki, but it's the truth. He is violent, and capable of massive damage on body or surroundings. In his current canon he would fight even more relentlessly. That may be tied to getting back to Yoshiki, getting back to the "normal" life he leads, but fight would be what he would do without question.
10. Why did your character make the wish they did? (110)
Because he wants to not hurt Yoshiki, or anyone else really that he would want to be close to. If he couldn't taint Yoshiki, that would mean he wouldn't hurt Hikaru's (his host body's) mother, or Hikaru's friends, or anyone else the entity wants to be near in his true form. Touch in his true form.
He knows he is dangerous. He knows closeness has consequences that cannot always be predicted or reversed. The wish was not about gaining power or becoming more human. It was about removing risk from the one place he does not want to contaminate.
He wanted to be able to reach out without causing harm.
