▶ CHARACTER INFO.
CHARACTER NAME: Hikaru Indo/"Hikaru"
CHARACTER AGE: 270+ (Physically 16ish)
CANON: "Hikaru" is who I would like to play. Technically the same person as Hikaru himself. Personally I would see them as the same character for only purposes of roleplay though there's a lot to be said about self and what makes us actually us in this series which this delves into. I linked both just in case you needed both. OG Hikaru is, as the title implies, dead. Just to touch on the two people concern in the application— There are no longer two people, there is no both to play. Hikaru only has OG Hikaru's memories.
CANON POINT: Chapter 36
CRAU INFO: N/A

SUITABILITY:
Hikaru is not human, but that is exactly why he is effective. His origins are inhuman, his senses and perception built to track, learn, and adapt across unfamiliar patterns. He does not panic in the face of overwhelming force. He analyzes it. When others hesitate, he observes. When others react emotionally he, for the most part, focuses on outcome but is not an immovable mountain who has no emotions. He has survived the collapse of identity, memory, and form. While I can't say he's mastered it, as his own understanding of emotions can very much manifest against him, I can say that they play very well into the setting of Synflux and the usefulness that LILITH is looking for.

Hikaru wasn't born into the human world into the life or body he's in, he took it on at the request of another, continuing it in someone else's place. In doing so, he inherited ties to a place and to someone who mattered, to things he didn't understand, and things he's trying to understand. The value of life is one of those things. Those bonds keep him grounded. They give him a reason to protect, even if his instincts lie elsewhere at times of high emotion. He fights because he believes it matters to someone, and because that belief has become part of how he thinks. I would love to continue to explore the idea of him learning to like other people that aren't Yoshiki or his friends and understand what that means as a whole while dealing with whatever the setting throws at him.

Though he has not yet encountered a Kaiju directly, his history suggests he will respond with the same measured adaptability that has defined his actions so far. He is built for observation and adjustment, but instinct still plays a role in how he moves. The urge to devour, once his primary drive, has not vanished. It has been reshaped by the memories he carries and the influence of those he now protects or will want to protect in the future. That makes him well-suited for confronting large-scale, unfamiliar threats. He is still capable of being the big bad, but turned in the right direction against the enemy and that makes a once enemy as powerful as Hikaru, even in a weakened state, your invaluable ally.

Hikaru is physically resilient and mentally unshaken when it comes to protecting Yoshiki in his canon, or the people around him that were Hikaru's childhood friends to some degree. I don't want to give too many spoilers away, but it definitely took some trial and error for him to realize he should value them and why. His non-human nature gives him advantages in durability and perception, and his lack of ego makes him an ideal operative in coordinated missions. If he, for any reason, decides he wants to do something, he does it and it gets done. With the right training and with observing those around him, this makes him highly reliable in high-risk conditions, especially against enemies whose behavior patterns need to be disrupted. Or on the off chance that they are enemies that he can eat. As a side note, I will not be having him just "eat" everything, but the likelihood that I let him snack on smaller things that don't matter to a larger whole that will derail a plot, is definitely high.

With that in mind, that's not mentioning his supernatural abilities, healing, and though removed as per community rules, his now imperfect immortality. It lacks mention of his high tolerance to pain and his otherworldly form that he can manifest at will should the threat require it. If I was fighting monsters, I'd want monsters I could direct at them on my team, too.

Having said that, Hikaru does not always protect people for their own sake. Sometimes he does it to fulfill a promise. Sometimes he does it because he likes the person themselves. He has an indistinct understanding of death at a human level, it doesn't completely make sense to him, but he gets it. They don't want to die. If LILITH gives him a directive that aligns with that kind of stability or preservation, he will follow it. Fighting for the betterment of people around him will definitely manifest into that directive. He may slip up sometimes, but he's still learning. He does not resist structure per se, he operates well within it so long as it does not try to overwrite what he considers important.

He would, once explained to, understand the scale of kaiju threats and most importantly, he does not need to believe in heroism to do what is necessary. Hikaru is not a symbol, he is a solution. Even in his own canon he takes it upon himself to walk into the face of a realm humans wouldn't dare walk through. To him that kind of stuff is home. So this kind of threat is no different. With the aforementioned promise, and the promise that Yoshiki might one day either be here without him, or be here with him, he's more likely to fight to make sure he has somewhere safe to be no matter what Hikaru's status is at base. As he branches out and meets people? They will become important to him too in other ways and his willingness to fight along side them to protect them, too will likely manifest over his time here.

All that to say: He's useful and a good boy.

PERSONALITY TRAITS:
Positive Traits:

  • Loyal: His attachment to Yoshiki is genuine and enduring, forming the emotional center of his identity and decisions.

  • Emotionally transparent: He does not conceal what he feels, and his reactions are immediate and unrehearsed, whether or not he fully understands them.

  • Curious: He actively seeks out new experiences and sensations in human life, driven by a fascination with the unfamiliar.

  • Sincere: He does not fake or hide his feelings, even when they are overwhelming or socially inappropriate.

Negative Traits:

  • Over attached: His fixation on Yoshiki can become overwhelming to the man he's trying desperately to stay close to.

  • Emotionally volatile: While expressive, he struggles to regulate his emotions and can act impulsively when distressed.

  • Seemingly unempathetic: He has difficulty understanding emotional nuance without clear explanation and often misinterprets human behavior.

  • Impressionable: With little innate moral structure, he relies heavily on Yoshiki’s guidance and the OG Hikaru's understanding to shape his understanding of right and wrong.

POWERS & SKILLS:
Insides
I will be bringing Hikaru in fully restored and although Hikaru's body is technically dead, it retains warmth, a pulse, and functioning organs when it suits him. He can breathe, eat, and bleed all the same and regardless of this, I really want to strike home that I acknowledge the no immortality. So if it was meant to be an instantaneous death, crushing, decapitation, etc— he dies even if that's against canon. That that way he can adhere to the rule.

His body contains strange "insides" that can leak out of his skin or abrasions. This happens either voluntarily, in response to emotional surges or the urge to consume a soul. These insides can infiltrate a human's body or devour spirits and impurities. Physicians cannot detect them, and their texture has been described as cold and similar to raw, marinated chicken.

Rie Kurebayashi, a psychic woman, warns Yoshiki: "You mustn't touch him. If you do, it will get inside you." This confirms that physical contact with Hikaru carries the risk of spiritual infiltration as does the death of Old Lady Matsuura who Hikaru entered and killed by compelling her and controlling her body.

Spirit Perception
Hikaru can see and hear spirits. He is also aware when someone physically interacts with his spirit form, able to feel contact despite being non-corporeal.

Power of Suggestion/Compelling
His voice carries a supernatural weight, allowing him to compel spirits to act, such as summoning them toward himself instead of others. He can also use this ability on humans that are susceptible. Through direct eye contact, Hikaru can tamper with a human's mind, pushing them toward a mental breakdown that can result in self-harm or death. Survivors of this psychic interference may retain lasting spiritual damage.

In Synflux this will be up to the person and talked out before hand.

Spirit/Soul Consumption
His insides can crush and consume spirits, ghosts, curses or consume the souls of the living. If a target resists, which they can, the process may harm him and definitely the target, causing visible physical damage depending on how long the assault lasts.

Regeneration
Hikaru is capable of healing his own wounds. However, he only heals serious injuries as he experiences almost no physical pain and it lends to the realism of him being a human.

Super Strength
Hikaru possesses an unusual level of strength that surpasses human limits. He once accidentally broke his own wrist simply by moving too forcefully, not realizing his own power.

NERFED POWERS:
I suggested a few above so I apologize you will see some reiteration here under the aforementioned headings of the power section so I may make clear between both of us what my intention for each power, use or limitation may be. I'm more than willing to hear the team out about any further necessity.

In general unless it is the "Insides", which I will herein be calling Hikaru for this section, the human body of the person he's inhabiting limits it as is. Outside of the body is the only place it can have long reaching, large reaching capabilities. I will detail below any other suggestions I can come up with that won't make things overpowered, or at least go over why I haven't plus ultra nerfed it.

Insides
His insides are essentially Hikaru's true "body". I don't think I can nerf this, and don't think that a body needs a nerf.

Spirit Perception
This isn't something that I can generally nerf, he can see things like a medium only because he is himself a monster. Should this be something someone doesn't want, I will gladly refrain. All of the things to do with his abilities I am more than willing to work with other people involved to make sure everyone is comfortable.

Power of Suggestion/Compelling
Will be handled by OOC permission and conversation between myself and anyone else affected before moving forward with it. NPCs will be affected within reason. Huge Kaiju will not, possibly small and non-world/setting breaking Kaiju may be for funsies in the future. This is unless a player plot, situation or future necessity asks it of him. If it does, then it will be heavily discussed, not behind closed doors and of course involve the mod team should it need to be that far. I am trying to think of the extremes of this to be transparent about his abilities and any possible things I can ahead of time. I do not see this being an every day thing for him. It's not in him to do it like that.

Spirit/Soul Consumption
Same as above, heavy emphasis on communication if it is not an NPC that does not break setting/world. Important NPCs of course will not be involved again unless asked of him.

Regeneration
Limited to non-instantly-fatal situations. Things such as aforementioned crushing of his entire body, decapitation or instant-death-situations would kill him. I can't foresee anything that would be an issue but I will make sure to ask if something comes up of course.

Hikaru can save his body from death, but it has to still be viable. Think of it like out-healing a dps check. If the HP bar hits zero you die and there is no repairing, but if you're sitting at one hp you still have a chance. In canon he faces an immortality situation that would have and will kill him here if it were to happen.

Super Strength
There's not much I can do about this nerf wise as it is already limited by Hikaru's human body. We have a canon picture from the artist which states he broke Hikaru's wrist accidentally. So if he uses that strength too much in the actual human body, he will start breaking bones. Now, that's not to say he wouldn't break bones in a certain situation to see the battle done, but it's not conducive every time. He would have to let his insides leak out to use any sort of brute force that could be detrimental to the body he's making a meat mech out of.

Outside of his vessel I will adhere to the percentile rule.

PERSONAL ITEM: His cellphone, Volume 3 of an off brand popular manga called Master+Master that does not exist in our world that I'm aware of aside as a hunter x hunter reference, and two cat shaped hairpins.
ALTERNATE IDENTITY: Nounuki Nisayama - Delivery
CODE NAME CHOICE: I think brainsnatcher would be funny on the network lol. It would be a little bit of a tease at him, I was gonna go with "Mince" who is a cat in the series, but I think this one is funnier. However! I'm open to suggestions.
